Catholic Friends outing 23rd February

13 friends visited Birlingham near Pershore where the churchyard of St James is a mass of snowdrops and crocuses with primroses and cyclamen. A wonderful sight even in the blustery winds.

This was followed by a leisurely "senior's lunch "  at the Oak at Defford.

After lunch

After lunch we did a gentle stroll to a wonderful old orchard (part of the Daffodil Way). Many of us rounded off the walk with tea and cakes in Dymock Church where we also read about the Dymock poets. Thanks to Pat and Margaret for researching the walk. Everyone had a good time.

 SWIECONKA Easter Food Blessing

Well over 100 young families packed the church this  Holy Saturday. There were almost 40 baskets of brilliantly decorated special Easter foods which were blessed and there was a short service with readings in Polish, before the children delightedly reclaimed their own baskets looking for the chocolate element!

Good Friday 2014 Market House

Good Friday March of Witness 2014

The Ledbury Churches joined forces again this year on the Good Friday March of Witness, when over 100 people took part.  Most walked from the Baptist Church following the Cross carried by the Revd Howard Mayle and praying silently for the town and joined others under the historic Market House.  There was a short service of hymns and readings with reflections on the meaning of Good Friday involving participants from all the local denominations.  The music echoed out across town attracting local shoppers and visitors who paused on their way past.

This march is organised each year by Christians Together in the Ledbury area to show the local community why Good Friday is still so important.

The pictures shows some of the crowd gathering at the Baptist Church, on the Walk, under the Market House and  The Revd Howard Mayle  who carried the Cross on the walk and stood holding it throughout the Service!
