Catholic Womens League

The Catholic Women's League was founded in 1906 by Margaret Fletcher.  We are a national organisation covering all dioceses in England and Wales.

Our motto is "Charity, Work and Loyalty".

The objectives of the League are:

  • to promote and support charitable works at  parish, diocesan and national levels
  • to unite Catholic Women in a bond of common fellowship forming a national, non party-political organisation
  • to train and encourage members to use their talents and skills in the service of the Church and the community
  • to initiate and maintain charitable works, whether religious, educational  or in the interests of moral and social welfare
  • to try to ensure Catholic representation of these interests on public bodies.

Society today is much changed from that of its Founder 100 years ago, but Margaret Fletcher’s ideals of Charity, Work and Loyalty still hold true for League members today as we work tirelessly to support the clergy and the Church in promoting justice and tolerance for all sections of society.

The CWL Section, here at The Church of the Most Holy Trinity, supports many local, national and international charities including The Medaille Trust. This is a charity that helps women and children who have been freed from sex-trafficking – just one example of the League keeping abreast of major social issues in its second century of service.

Please consider joining us! We meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall.  Speak to any of our members or our Section Secretary,  Mrs Elizabeth Riddick  or phone 01531 631763 for further information.

St Vincent de Paul Society

Our “conference” consists of 9 members and 2 associate members.  It has been running for 15 years in this Parish

  • We meet at 7.30pm alternate Mondays at a member’s house
  • Our main role is to visit the sick and the elderly at home and in hospital. We also give them lifts to shops, medical services, friends and/or the church
  •  We give financial support to our twinned Conference in Kerala, India and occasional support to disaster areas as they occur.
  • We are the first port of call to unfortunates who end up in the Ledbury area possibly needing financial help or accommodation
  • We are self funding and exist off one church collection and one “Spring Fayre” each year.
  • In the past (but not in 2010-11) we have given help to young families materially  (furniture/groceries etc), advice on welfare grants, aid agencies, holidays for  “poor  families” and adventure training for the needy young

THE FLOWER GROUP 2011

There are six flower arrangers in the group who work together at Easter, the Harvest Festival and Christmas.

At other times of the year (not Advent or Lent) we each take a two week period in rotation.

We are grateful to the Parish for the generous donations collected bi-annually which enables us to create beautiful arrangements for the Greater Glory of God

Working for Children in the Parish

Throughout the year various programmes and special activities are put on for the children of the Parish.

Programmes for the preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are run from January to June for children who are in Year 3, or above, at the various schools in the area. Lessons are usually held on Saturday mornings and Fr Richard is always very involved in the programme, as are the parents who support and work with the catechists and their children.

Children's liturgy takes place in the Parish Centre on at least 2 of the Sundays in the months in term time at the 11.00am Mass.

It is an opportunity for the children who have not yet received Holy Communion to experience the Liturgy of the Word where they are encouraged to share their thoughts and ask questions through stories, songs and pictures. It also gives the children an opportunity to take an active role in the Mass by way of the Offertory procession or by sharing with the congregation what they have been doing.

Special services e.g. a Carol Service, Stations of the Cross, Rosary events and children's masses are organised throughout the year.  Parents are encouraged to offer ideas and their support. Jean Clarke is the contact for Children’s Catechesis and is always very happy to talk to parents and share new ideas.

Jean also liaises with the parish's Safeguarding Officer,  Bill Cole.
